The Geochemistry Atomic Force Microscope is able to measure the structural, topographic, electrical, and magnetic properties of a wide range of mineral surfaces and affixed microorganisms. It provides direct atomic-level observation of mineral surface structure and real-time measurements of mineral reactivity in geochemical environments. EMSL is a Department of Energy national scientific user facility located at PNNL.
