
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) researcher Andy Plymale near liquid scintillation analysis equipment used to study biogeochemical activity in the Hanford subsurface, including the biological activity of groundwater bacteria, as indicated by bacterial uptake of tritiated (3H) leucine, and the capacity of subsurface sediments to immobilize radioactive contaminants such as technetium-99 (99Tc).
