NMR spectroscopy is a sensitive technique for quantifying isotopes and probing their molecular structure. It measures the absorption and emission of radio frequency energy by the nuclei when placed in a magnetic field. This energy depends on the magnetic field and the distribution of electrons surrounding the nuclei, and provides a very informative, detailed picture of local environment.
