Flying over the Grand Canyon, the Gulfstream I aircraft gathered data for the Navaho Generating Station Winter Visibility Study of 1991. Information was collected on air quality and aerosols. Tracer data also were collected. Using this data, researchers assessed the effects of the emissions from a power-generating station on visibility in the Grand Canyon.
