Background: DSOM is an intelligent, user-intuitive diagnostic software/hardware system that has proven to reduce life-cycle operations and maintenance costs by 25 to 50%. Developed for the military, the DSOM technology is now available for a wide variety of commercial and institutional applications where optimum operation of major capital equipment can yield significant long-term benefits. Results from the first DSOM installation include a 35% increase in capacity, 75% reduction in training time, $280K per year savings in natural gas, $120K per year reduction in maintenance, and elimination of 2,500 tons per year of greenhouse gases.
