Pacific Northwest National Laboratory developed sensor-packed synthetic salmon that are making their way through the turbines at Bonneville Dam and other hydroelectric projects to measure the conditions that real fish encounter as they pass through turbines at hydroelectric dams on their way to the ocean. The information they collect could lead to more fish-friendly turbines in the future.
