Scientists at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory study contaminants like organic chemicals, metals, and microorganisms that tend to concentrate of the surface of seawater. Hydrophobic Teflon (tm) disks are used in the Aquatic Multisensor Measurement Platform to effectively collect preconcentrated microorganisms from the sea-surface microlayer.
