Pacific Northwest National Laboratory staff collect groundwater samples along the Hanford Reach shoreline using small diameter polyethylene tubing that is implanted into the cobbly sediment. Water samples are periodically withdrawn to monitor the characteristics of groundwater that discharges into the river through the riverbed.
