The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has conducted research to find methods of protection for the dwindling Pacific lamprey. Juvenile lamprey, like the one above, are only 4 inches long and 1/5 inch wide when they migrate from freshwater streams down through the dams on the Snake and Columbia rivers to the Pacific Ocean.
