To meet the U.S. Department of Energy requirements at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory provided leadership in building the Chornobyl Heat Plant in 2001. It provided the heat necessary to safely maintain plant systems for decommissioning activities.
