The x-ray facility in Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's 2410 Facility is used to conduct research on large thick section piping welds for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The facility houses a 450 keV x-ray machine capable of penetrating up to 4 inches of steel. Imaging detectors include real-time digital flat panels and phosphor plate computed radiography.
