In Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Chemical Imaging Initiative, scientists are developing 3D super-resolution fluorescence imaging and x-ray tomography techniques for investigating the cellular interactions and fate of individual nanoparticles in the intact cell with nanometer resolution. Here, the images are looking at pithelial cells in the lung. The progression shows how the scientists are able to obtain detailed data on the tiny conduits inside a single cell.
